Istanbul – A great place to start your holiday.
Istanbul is a beautiful, cosmopolitan city and a day of exploring the cultural delights of this city is highly recommended. Guided tours include visits to the Saint Sophia Museum – one of the most beautiful museums of the city, the Sultanahmet Mosque, the 1700 year old Hippodrome, the German Fountain (constructed to commemorate the second anniversary of the German Emperor William II’s visit to Istanbul in 1889), Topkapi Palace (the former home of the Sultans who ruled over the Ottoman Empire), Suleymaniye Mosque and the magnificent Basilica Cistern, constructed in 532 to supply water to the Byzantine Palace.
Troy – Situated close to Canakkale,
a trip to the site of the mythological battle is well worth a visit. And taking a local guide will bring the ancient ruins to life.
We can also organise excursions to Izmir or Ephesus.

The Anatolian peninsula, comprising most of modern Turkey, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions in the world. The settlement of Troy starts in the Neolithic and continued into the Iron Age. Starting around 1200 BC, the coast of Anatolia was heavily settled by Aeolian and Ionian Greeks. Numerous important cities were founded by these colonists, such as Miletus, Ephesus, Smyrna (modern Izmir), and Byzantium (later Constantinople and Istanbul). Anatolia was conquered by the Persian Achaemenid Empire during the sixth and fifth centuries BC and later fell to Alexander the Great in 334 BC. In 324, the Roman emperor Constantine I chose Byzantium to be the new capital of the Roman Empire, renaming it New Rome (later Constantinople and Istanbul). After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, it became the capital of the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire).
